For those who prefer learning from home, our online classes are also available and can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection.
What are your class sizes for online & in-person lessons?
We typically have a maximum of 12 students per class.
What age groups or grade levels do you cater to?
Our science tuition programs are designed for Primary 5, Primary 6, and Secondary 1 students.
What qualifications does our tutor have?
Our Principal Tutor, Mr. Daniel Tay is an ex-MOE school teacher and ex-marker of PSLE science papers. He graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Degree in Biological Science and has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the National Institute of Education, Singapore. He is highly qualified with over 12 years full-time experience in teaching science, including setting and marking of science exam papers.
How can I enroll my child in your science tuition programs?

How do you assess student progress?
We assess student progress through assignments, mock tests and active recall exercises during lessons. Additionally, we provide feedback and conduct periodic evaluations to track improvement and identify areas that need further attention.
Are your classes aligned with the Singapore syllabus curriculum?
Yes, our classes are designed to align with the latest Singapore syllabus curriculum and educational standards. We ensure that our content and teaching methods support what students are learning in their regular school curriculum.
Will there be homework and how is it submitted?
Yes, homework will be assigned after most lessons. Detailed homework guidelines will be provided upon enrolment. Typically, students are required to scan their completed work using the CamScanner app, name the file correctly, and submit them 72 hours after the lesson.
Can my child switch between online and in-person classes?
Yes. Please notify us in advance if you wish to make any changes to your child’s class modality.
What technology or software is required for online classes?
For online classes, students need a computer or tablet with internet access. We use Classin for virtual lessons, a software currently used by millions all over the world. Please download software from: ClassIn: One Stop Learning Solution for Hybrid and Virtual Learning
How do you ensure a safe and supportive learning environment?
We prioritize creating a safe and supportive learning environment by implementing strict policies on behavior, online safety, and student well-being.
Do you provide homework or additional practice outside of class?
Yes, we provide homework and additional practice materials to reinforce what students learn during class. These assignments are designed to help students review concepts, practice skills, and prepare for assessments.
Are there any prerequisites for joining your science programs?
Who teaches the classes and marks the homework?
To ensure consistent quality, all classes are personally conducted, and homework is marked by our team of professional markers, comprising former PSLE Science markers, ex-MOE teachers, and our principal, Mr. Daniel Tay.
What is the typical progress timeline for students?
Progress timelines can vary depending on the individual student and their starting point. However, many students start to show improvement within a few months of consistent attendance. We regularly assess progress to ensure that each student’s homework and submissions are on track to meet their goals.
What happens if my child needs to take a break from classes or withdraw from a program?
If your child needs to take a break or withdraw, please notify us as soon as possible.
What is your policy on student behaviour and discipline?
We maintain a respectful and disciplined learning environment by setting clear expectations and guidelines for behaviour. Mr Daniel Tay is trained to manage classroom behaviour positively and constructively. Persistent issues are addressed with a focus on finding solutions and supporting the student’s development.
What happens if my child misses a lesson? Will there be a replacement?
Your child can attend any other timeslots for the same lesson plan within the week.
How much does our science tuition cost?
The cost of our science tuition varies depending on the level.
- P6 Lesson Fees: $400 for 4 lessons
- P5 $300 for 4 lessons
- One-Time Registration Fee: $50
- One-Time Materials Fee: $120
Total: $470 for P5
Is there any trial lessons?
Yes. Trial lessons are $50 for all levels.
Please note that attending a trial lesson does not guarantee a seat in the regular weekly class.

What is the Withdrawal Policy?
Please give one (1) month notice in writing for any withdrawals.
Are there any additional fees besides the tuition cost?
There may be additional fees for materials, special programs, or events, depending on the course. We will inform you of any extra costs at the time of enrollment or as they arise. For a detailed breakdown of potential fees, please contact us.
What modes of payment do you accept?
We accept digital payments strictly via PayNow only. Payer must put the child’s name in the remarks and WhatsApp the screenshot of successful transfer to 93651228 after payment.
We regret that we do not accept payment by credit cards, Stripe or cash at the moment.
Are there any discounts for termly or annual payment plans?
Yes. Families who opt for a termly payment plan of 12 lessons enjoy a 3% discount.
For families who prefer to commit to a full-year programme, an annual payment option is available with a 5% discount.
These options are designed to provide better value while allowing students to benefit from consistent, structured learning over time.
Do you have a referral programme?
Yes. We run a simple referral programme for families who would like to recommend Bestminds Academy to others.
When a referred student enrols for one full term, the referred family receives a $50 fee reduction upon sign-up. As a token of appreciation, the referring family will also receive $50 in cash.
This programme is designed to thank families who place their trust in us and help introduce our teaching approach to others.
How do I know if my child needs science tuition?
If your child is struggling with understanding science concepts, finding it difficult to keep up with school homework, or aiming to achieve higher grades, science tuition could be beneficial. We recommend discussing with your child’s teacher to assess their current performance and determine if additional support is needed.
Do you offer any additional support to parents & students?
Absolutely! We provide regular updates on your child’s progress and offer guidance on how you can support their learning at home. Additionally, we offer resources via our Telegram group.
What if my child misses a class?
If your child misses an online class, the video recording of the class will be available for will be available for 3 months from the lesson or end of enrolment, whichever is later. If a student misses an in-person class, he or she may join any online class for make-up or watch the video recording within the same week.
How do you handle students with special learning needs?
If your child has specific needs due to certain medical conditions, please inform us before enrolment so we can make the necessary arrangements or accommodations.
Do you offer private 1-1 tuition?
Yes. We offer personalized 1-to-1 tuition at $200 per hour.
How do you handle feedback and complaints?

How much does regular Science tuition cost?
- Primary 5: $300 for four lessons, plus a one-time registration fee of $50 and a one-time materials fee of $120. The initial total is $470.
- Primary 6: $400 for four lessons, plus a one-time registration fee of $50 and a one-time materials fee of $120. The initial total is $570.
Are trial lessons available?
Yes. Trial lessons are available for Primary 5 and Primary 6, and the fee is $50. Attending a trial does not guarantee a place in the regular weekly class; enrolment is confirmed only after the relevant requirements are met and a vacancy is available.
Are there any additional fees?
Additional charges may apply for materials, crash courses, special programmes, events, recordings of past lessons, and optional resources or services. Families will be informed of the fee before making a purchase.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payment is accepted strictly via PayNow to UEN 202502484D. Please include the child’s name and surname in the payment remarks and WhatsApp a screenshot of the successful transfer to 9365 1228. Credit cards, Stripe and cash are not accepted at present.
Are there discounts for termly or annual payment plans?
A12-lesson termly payment plan receives a 3% discount.
Afull-year payment plan receives a 5% discount.
Do you offer promotions?

Do you have a referral programme?
Yes. The referral programme is open to everyone; the referrer does not need to be a current student. When the referred student enrols for one full term of 12 lessons, the referrer receives $100 in cash. This replaces the former $50 referral reward. The referred student also receives a waiver of the $50 registration fee.
Do you offer crash courses?

Does Bestminds Academy have any publications?
Yes. Mr Daniel Tay is the author of “Examiner Secrets: How to Consistently Score AL1 for Science”. The book helps students understand examiner expectations and answer Science questions with greater precision. It may be purchased from POPULAR bookstores, the CPD Singapore website and Shopee, subject to availability.
Can I purchase Bestminds Academy tuition notes without attending classes?
Our regular tuition notes and lesson materials are designed to be used together with Mr Daniel Tay’s teaching and are therefore primarily provided to enrolled Bestminds Academy students. We do not generally sell the complete tuition notes as a standalone product. Parents looking for independent learning resources
mayconsider Mr Daniel Tay’s published book, selected crash courses or other learning resources made available by the academy.
What is the difference between the book and the tuition notes? Is the content duplicated?
They serve different purposes and are not direct duplicates. “Examiner Secrets: How to Consistently Score AL1 for Science” is a standalone resource that focuses on examination thinking, answering techniques, commonmistakes and examiner expectations. Bestminds Academy tuition materials form part of our structured weekly curriculum and contain topic-specific teaching content, application questions, examination practice and lesson activities taught progressively during classes. There may naturally be some overlap in important Science principles and examination techniques, but the tuition materials are more closely integrated with the weekly lesson programme.
Can you support students with special learning or medical needs?
Please inform us of any relevant medical condition or learning need before enrolment. We will review the information and assess whether suitable accommodations can be provided.
Do you offer private one-to-one tuition?
Yes. Personalised Primary Science tuition is available at $250 per hour. Lessons may be conducted online or face-to-face at Yishun, Singapore 760286, subject to availability.
What additional support do parents and students receive?
Parents receive regular progress updates and guidance on supporting learning at home. Students may also receive additional learning resources through the academy’s Telegram group. https://t.me/bestmindsacad
Can my child attend additional consultation sessions with Mr Daniel?
Students may clarify questions during lessons and through the academy’s support arrangements. As Mr Daniel personally teaches all regular classes, separate one-to-one consultation sessions outside scheduled lessons are not automatically included in the regular tuition fee. Where more intensive individual support is
required, parents may enquire about private one-to-one tuition, subject to availability
If mychild needs help, can they message Mr Daniel?
Yes. Enrolled students may send Science-related questions arising from their Bestminds lessons, homework or assigned practice through the designated support channel. Questions should be specific and, where appropriate, accompanied by the student’s attempted working or answer so that meaningful guidance can be
provided. Support messages are answered within reasonable operating hours and are not an instant response or unlimited on-demand tutoring service. More extensive individual teaching may require anseparate consultation or one-to-one lesson.
